Why Enigmatic?

The definition of Enigmatic is, “resembling an enigma, or a puzzling occurrence, situation, statement, person, etc.; perplexing; mysterious”, according to dictionary.com. So why would I choose to call myself this? It suites me. I am a contradiction to myself. As a Pisces, I go with the flow, and if you look at the symbol for Pisces the fish are swimming in opposite directions.

I feel this is me most of the time. I work a very regular day job with lots of responsibilities in a professional industry. Then I do energy healings, read tarot cards, and practice Shamanism. I am a mystery even to myself.

Today I was working on a report in my home office when my daughter and grandson showed up, so I started rocking him and giving him Reiki in hopes of lulling him off to sleep.  Yesterday during my workday, I received a call from someone asking for a psychic reading.  My life is full of duality.

I work hard and I play just as hard, if not harder. I love to travel but also enjoy my quiet time at home. I have been know to smudge business offices and keep crystals on my professional desk. I know I am not alone. I know there are other “hidden” witches out there. I am selective who I share my spirituality with because, even though we live in a land that preaches spiritual freedom, I am not sure that is for all of us. I worry that others will not accept me if they knew I am a practicing pagan and identify as a witch. Still, I painted my front door to our house purple because “a purple door means a witch lives here”.

I look forward to sharing this journey with you. I hope to connect with other closeted witches out there. I know there are many of us who practice quietly in silence or small groups. Until next time.
